The Golden Bachelor: Should Christian Single Women Over 40 Watch?

As a Christian woman who married for the first time at 40 to my best male friend Larry, conceived naturally and gave birth at ages 42 and 44 to healthy daughters, I’ve dedicated ebooks such as Marry Over 40 By Faith and InSeason Mom website to helping women over 35 and 40 who want to marry or become moms. I’m proud that InSeason Mom has been recognized by CBS New York and NBC News.

When I learned ABC Network was launching a new show, The Golden Bachelor, which was targeting part of my audience, I had to find out more.

What is The Golden Bachelor?

The Golden Bachelor is a reality dating television show scheduled to air on Thursday, September 28 at 8:00 p.m. EST. The ABC website says The Golden Bachelor is “showcasing love stories that only get better with age.” That sounds good to me because I enjoy seeing negative stereotypes crushed, especially about aging.

The main character is Gerry Turner, an outgoing  72-year-old widower and retired restaurateur. His photo is pictured above.

Who are the contestants for The Golden Bachelor?

The women competing for The Golden Bachelor are accomplished, beautiful, and from diverse racial backgrounds. They range in age from 60 to 75. While some are retired, others are still active in their professional careers. You can view and learn more about the contestants at https://abc.com/shows/the-golden-bachelor

What about The Golden Bachelor Fantasy Suite?

Having never watched a full episode of the previous The Bachelor or The Bachelorette,  I didn’t know what the Fantasy Suite was, but it sounded wild…and not in a good way. Watching the video below has eased a few of my concerns:

Should Christian Single Women Over 40 Watch The Golden Bachelor?

Yes. I plan to watch and will write follow-up posts to share my thoughts.

I think it’s refreshing to see older women who haven’t given up on finding a mate or even a date. This is not an endorsement of what the main character or the contestants may say or do.

The 20+ female contestants vying for the attention of one man, The Golden Bachelor, represents the unfortunate reality in most churches. Although single female members outnumber single male members, I’m thankful to serve as a reminder that Christian Women Can Marry Over 40 By Faith!   Also, I offer “Live Support/Coaching and Mentoring" to encourage you in your journey with action steps.
